Abstract
Misorelli presents a case study: The One Million Youth Life Stories initiative that changed conditions for Brazilian young people through digital storytelling (DS). It was developed by two social organisations: The “Museum of the Person” (a virtual and collaborative museum of life stories) and “Aracati”. The project started in 2006, with the holding of a workshop involving 30 young people from 12 youth organisations, during which they shared and produced their life stories. After taking part in the workshop, the participants were able to develop more workshops with other young people. In two years, the initiative itself facilitated 10 workshops with 300 people and these participants facilitated another 100 workshops, producing 3000 stories revealing the dreams and difficulties of young people in Brazil.
