Abstract
The focus of this chapter is to discuss leadership in South Africa by looking at background and history issues relevant to leadership. It is clear that South African leaders are facing different challenges. One challenge is that of integrating different cultures. In the review of the literature, it is clear that South Africans traditionally have aspirations for participative forms of leadership. In the discussion of different events and challenges related to business, investment and leadership, however, it is clear that these aspirations are not met yet. This is confirmed by the perceptions of foreigners and local perspectives about South African leadership.
