Abstract
Like a successful use of various media, reaching an audience is a necessary condition of fame. Discussing the role of various audiences in the formation of Lady Gaga’s fame across the globe, this chapter reviews the idea of symmetry that is established between the singer and her fans and their multiple ways of interaction, including live concert performances. It is argued that the singer’s most devoted fan base of the Little Monsters functions as a part of her spectacle, which has attracted attention from a large and diverse range of audiences displaying variable levels of devotion, indifference, and dislike. This perspective broadens the scope of the publics of Lady Gaga’s fame to fans, non-fans, and anti-fans alike.
