Abstract

‘Eurydice from the Clinic in Vlezenbeek’ analyses the Romeo Castellucci staging of the Gluck opera Orfeo ed Euridice in 2014. The director staged it in two versions: as part of Wiener Festwochen and at the Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels. The opera production is characterised by a similar strategy to that of the theatre productions examined in the second chapter. The analysis also takes up the subject of pathos, a frequently recurring category in Castellucci’s works. The text was first published as a review of the premiere.
