The Cortex of the Human Brain

Abstract

In this chapter, we will look at the cortex, or the outer layer of the brain. The cortex is what differentiates us from most other animals, and our more developed language and thinking centers are what differentiate us from the apes. Our bodily sensations, our symbolic thinking, our sensory inputs, and our memories have a profound impact on our felt sense of identity.
