Abstract
This chapter compares the organisational structures of Western and Chinese interest groups. Empirical data show that the distinct state–society relations of Western and Chinese interest groups result in different organisational set-ups. This influences lobbying strategies and shows that Western interest groups enjoy greater freedom from China’s state system than their Chinese counterparts.
