Abstract
This chapter begins with a brief introduction of the country. It is followed by a review of national development plans that provide the structure within which numerous programs to assist the female entrepreneurs in India fit. Interview data from policymakers who work in education and job placement for women extend our understanding of the initiatives by revealing the process of decision-making within India’s complex development system which assists women in the development and support of businesses.
