Abstract
This chapter discusses the unconscious aspects of the collective self from the perspective of the Sociology of Human Consciousness (SHC) model. It also explores the personal and collective unconscious as formulated in Jungian psychology.

The concept of archetypes has been likened to Levy-Bruhl’s mythological motifs, Hubert and Mauss’ categories of the imagination, and Adolf Bastian’s primordial thoughts (Vannoy Adams, 1996, p. 59).
