Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the seminal works on collective consciousness in sociology. Its purpose is to situate the concept of collective consciousness in a broad interdisciplinary context. It refers to the work of Durkheim, Halbwachs, and Giddens. It concludes with an overview of the Sociology of Human Consciousness model.
