Abstract
In this chapter, Dinesh Joseph Wadiwel expands upon the political strategies of counter-conduct and truce discussed in The War against Animals. Here, he provides an elaboration of the concept of counter-conduct described in Michel Foucault’s 1 March 1978 lecture. This lecture is highly relevant to thinking through strategies, particularly tactics such as inter-subjective forms of conduct like the pursuit of plant-based diets. The chapter also offers a discussion of “truce” as a concept for political strategy. In such a context, Wadiwel examines the labour general strike, its resonance with a potential animal liberation campaign for “one day without killing,” and the potential alliance politics that might be involved in generating such an action.
