Abstract
A central aim in this book has been to contribute to the overlooked research area of rural education and offer a nuanced understanding of the complexities of a social justice agenda for rural school participants. This chapter examines the developments in education policy and rural education a few years after the study that informs the book has concluded. Thus, it works also as an afterword and a moral reflection of the work ahead for policy-makers, researchers, and practitioners in the quest of achieving a socially just rural education.
