Abstract

AREA AND POPULATION. The area of the Central African Republic covers 624,930 sq. km; its population in 1967 was 1,466,000. The capital is Bangui (150,000 inhabitants). In 1966 some 27,000 refugees from the Sudan and 16,000 from the Congo were living in the Central African Republic.
