Up to July 1925 the affairs of all the British Empire, apart from the United Kingdom and India, were dealt with by the Colonial Office. Since that month a new secretaryship of state, for Dominion Affairs, has been responsible for the relations between the United Kingdom and all the independent members of the Commonwealth.
