Abstract
We have witnessed the process of globalization, seemingly increase and widen economic vulnerabilities with its rapid and dramatic deregulation. The contagion experienced in Latin America and most recently in the East Asian financial crisis are products of the vast increase in short term capital movements and international integration. Globalization broadly, and economic restructuring in Asia specifically, both raise a host of questions concerning what is best for the people of the region.
