Abstract
AREA AND POPULATION. Area, 322,463 sq. km; total population (estimate, 1974), 5–7m., including 35,000 Europeans. The seat of administration and of the court of appeal is at Abidjan (population, 500,000); the office of agriculture, at Bingerville. Abidjan, Bouaké and Daloa are important towns. There are 8 towns with populations of over 10,000 inhabitants and 12 with over 5,000 inhabitants. 43 % of the population are below the age of 15 ; 10% above the age of 50.
