Abstract
The ancient Empire of Ethiopia is a sovereign independent state. It has grown out of the combination of a number of kingdoms, such as Tigré, Gojjam, Gondar and Shoa, which used to recognize the ‘King of Kings’ as their suzerain but have now become mere provinces, as have formerly autonomous districts such as Harar, and the Galla, Shankalla and Dankali territories.
