Abstract

Haakon VII, born August 3, 1872; the second son, Carl, of Frederik VIII, King of Denmark, elected King of Norway by the Storting, November 18, 1905; accepted the crown through his grandfather, the late King Christian of Denmark, November 18, 1905; landed in Norway November 25, 1905; married, July 22, 1896, to Princess Maud, born November 26, 1869 (died November 20, 1938), the third daughter of the late Edward VII, King of Great Britain and Ireland.
