Abstract
The Republic of Ecuador is situated in the north-west of South America, with about one-fifth of its area lying north of the Equator. It is bounded on the north by Colombia, on the south by Peru and Brazil, on the east by Colombia and Brazil, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean and Peru.
