Abstract
Alabama was organised as a Territory in 1817 and admitted into the Union as a State in 1819. The legislature consists of a Senate of 35 members and a House of Representatives of 67 members; all the legislators being elected for four years. Sessions are held once in four years, and are limited to 50 days, during which Senators and Representatives are paid four dollars a day.
