Abstract
The handbook opens with an introduction that outlines the aim of this volume, namely, to develop an overview of the extent and mechanisms of workers’ participation at plant level. The editors illustrate the organization of the publication that reflects the global dimension of different modes of workers’ participation. To this end, they provide a short presentation of the four different parts into which this handbook is organized. The first part offers an extensive introduction to the topic of the volume itself. The second part focuses on historical perspectives on workers’ participation at plant level, whereas the third part concentrates on country studies. In the fourth part, the editors offer some comparative observations and discuss some general questions that arise out of the reading and debating of the chapters.
