Abstract
Various aspects of pheromone synthesis were reviewed by analyzing 61 synthetic examples from 9 different structural categories of pheromones. Syntheses executed with new methodologies such as organoborane reactions, organotransition metal chemistry including ring-closing olefin metathesis, asymmetric epoxidations and dihydroxylations, and enzymatic reactions are selected to illustrate the usefulness of modern new reactions.
