Abstract

Dynamic and static light scattering experiments were performed to measure the time evolution of the cluster-size distribution and cluster morphology for aggregating polystyrene particles. Systems with different particle size were studied. Dynamic Scaling was observed in every case. The homogeneity parameter, λ, of the Van Dongen model, the fractal dimension of the clusters and the dimer formation rate constant, k 11, were determined. These parameters allowed the aggregation mechanism and its relation with the cluster structure to be determined. A rearrangement process is proposed to explain our results.
