Abstract
The point of zero charge of a certain commercial titanium dioxide has been determined. This is crucial in determining the colloidal stability that our TiO2/water dispersion exhibits, which greatly influences the efficiency of the detoxification process where this interface is employed. The method used is based on the semiconductor properties of titanium dioxide and on the slow OH− consumption that has been observed in this type of interfaces. The electrophoretic mobility of the TiO2 dispersion was measured at different pHs, establishing for the point of zero charge a value of 7.5.
