Flocculation of oil-in-water emulsions by detergents

Abstract

Detergents have long been used in the stabilization of emulsions (1,2) and these were found probably the most efficient emulsifiers (3, 4). Despite their emulsifying action, we here found, that these materials can be used, equally well, in breaking the emulsions.
