Coils, globules and solubilization of a thermosensitive polymer

Abstract

The thermosensitive ternary system poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)-SDS-water exhibits a remarkable coil-globule transition whose features are governed by polymer-surfactant interactions. We report on light scattering studies of the collapse and expansion of the polymer chain as well as preliminary results (obtained with time resolved fluorescence depolarization) on the formation and rotational dynamics of polymer induced surfactant micelles.
