Direct measurements by light scattering of the self diffusion in dense macromolecular solutions

Abstract

We report the study of the self-diffusion coefficient for strongly interacting polystyrene latex particles in a water solution, where aggregation processes are present. The reported data, obtained by measuring the contribution in the intensity-intensity correlation function of the occupation fluctuation number of particles in the scattering volume, agree with the current models of kinetic growth for random aggregation.
