Abstract

Photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) and Brillouin spectroscopy (BS) are employed in the study of the local segmental dynamics in a 50/50 interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) of polyurethane (PUR) with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) in the temperature 140 to 390 K. The faster of the two primary relaxations present, due to the soft PUR component is studied by PCS and it exhibits broad distribution of retardation times. The Brillouin spectra of the present IPN exhibited significant hypersonic attenuation both above and below the glass transition temperature T g of the PUR.
