Semidilute polymer solution near the wall

Abstract

The behaviour of long flexible polymer chains in good solution near at adsorbing wall, a nonadsorbing wall and a wall at the critical point of adsorption is studied. Only the case of a semidilute polymer solution is considered. It is assumed that the monomermonomer correlation function satisfies the generalized Edwards equation. The second moments of the monomer-monomer correlation function have been calculated. These moments determine shapes of polymer subunits. The dependence of the shape of polymer subunit on the distance to the wall, on the total monomer concentration and on the interaction between the wall and monomers is discussed.
