Abstract

In very dilute aqueous solutions, the behaviour of hydrogenated and fluorinated nonionics are similar but not identical. For air/water adsorption and micellisation, the main result is the equivalence in the length of the hydrophobic chains, which is about 1/1.7, but it also depends on temperature. An overview of comparative thermodynamic data is presented for both these phenomena.
