Abstract

The pressure and temperature derivatives of some of the elastic modules of KPC are presented along with data on thermal expansion and the importance of anharmonic effects in KPC is pointed out. A difference of 7% between the velocity of sound propagating parallel to the Pt chains in the zero-sound and the first-sound regime is reported for longitudinal waves at room temperature and the possible connection of this effect with the Peierls transition is discussed.
