Abstract

In this paper we treat the interaction of acidic-glycolipids with proteins. We used monosialoganglioside, disialoganglioside, and ganglioside mixture. The proteins used were albumins whose surfaces are modified differently with mono- and disaccharides. By using X-ray and neutron-scattering techniques we have found that the interactions of mono- and disialogangliosides with albumins having monosaccharides occur less destructively for ganglioside aggregate structures at low protein concentrations and that the interaction of monosialogangliosides with albumins having disaccharides occurs very destructively, suggesting a strong interaction between them compared with other cases.
