Abstract

The influence of the subphase pH, temperature and ionic strength on the behavior of amphotericin B monolayers spread at the air/water interface was thoroughly studied. The stability of the monolayers was examined on the basis of successive compression-decompression cycles. The plateau, which separates LE and LC state of the monolayer, was interpreted in terms of reorientational changes of molecules from a horizontal to a vertical position. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔII, ΔS), corresponding to the monolayer in the transition region, were calculated.
