Abstract

Progress in understanding the plasticity of germanium and silicon is reviewed. Special attention is directed towards a direct experimental check of the basic equations of the micro-dynamic approach to crystal plasticity which is described in detail in a forthcoming article of these authors in vol. 21 of “Solid State Physics”.
