Abstract

Stimulated by the concept of the possibility of a polarizable N3− ion and the potentiality of its being a fast Li-ionic conductor, lithium nitride, Li3N, has been, and still is, the subject of broad interdisciplinary investigations. These form an excellent example for modern solid state research. This paper will describe this situation and review the present state of this fast developing field.
