Abstract

The semiclassical description of two-electron dynamics is reviewed and recent developments are highlighted. We discuss the semiclassical quantization of intermittency, which leads to a modified summation of periodic orbits in the Gutzwiller trace formula for Rydberg series of resonances. Furthermore, we present a semiclassical S-matrix formulation of Coulomb scattering, which can describe twoelectron escape. Thereby, we cover an energy range of the two-electron system from the ground state across the complete fragmentation threshold into the two-electron continuum. We will illustrate the results for the helium atom, electron-hydrogen and electron-helium scattering.
