Abstract
We discuss the semiclassical formalism for calculating cross sections in photodissociation of small molecules. The general procedures for calculating the smooth background in the classical limit and the leading order quantum corrections, as well as for the semiclassical periodic orbit and recurrent orbit contributions are outlined. As a specific example, we discuss an application to the photodissociation spectrum of H2O.
