Black holes in X-ray binaries

Abstract

In this paper I provide a brief review of the following aspects of research in black-hole X-ray binaries: X-ray spectra, mass determinations, and source states. In addition, I discuss several recent developments resulting from observations of the transient GRS 1915+105.
