This paper describes recent experiments which probe the nature of the magnetic-field tuned superconductor-insulator (SI) transition in the LaSr-CuO system. A summary is given of various experiments on the SI transition in other high-T c systems and in conventional superconducting thin films. Similarities and differences between the behavior of LaSrCuO and the behavior of conventional films are discussed.
