Abstract
We show that thermoelectric power and conductivity of Qn(TCNQ)2, and many similar salts with â filled bands, can be explained quantitatively for T ≳ 80°K by a model with a gap at the 1/4 filled band level and large Coulomb repulsion U for a second electron on the same site. Susceptibility and its temperature variation are consistent with this model. Calculations show that the gap arises from a Peierls distortion involving only intramolecular phonons.
