Abstract
We compare ultraviolet laser ablation at a wavelength of 308 nm from ionic solids where the photon energy is much less than (KCI), or approximately equal to (LiNbO3), the bulk bandgap energy. The results are interpreted in the framework of simple charge-transfer models.
