Abstract

We have given in this chapter an overview of the results which have been obtained for incident electrons and protons on polycrystalline aluminum targets. We have also discussed some older results for incident electrons on gold targets. There is a general agreement between our results and experiments. Observed disagreements are probably due to the neglect of important physical processes in our set of interaction cross sections (capture and loss processes, inner-shell ionizations for incident protons, ...). Work is in progress to incorporate these processes in our calculations.
