Abstract
One of the largest problems a planner is facing, is the lack of insight in the effects of decisions on schedule efficiency. First results of these research projects show, that in comparison with manual planning, insight is increased when using simulation techniques to evaluate a schedule. The dynamic aspects of the schedule, like for instance the effects of stochastic influences, can be clarified using simulation output.
We expect that the adaptive components of the system will solve part of the other planning problems planning like changes in model parameters, in model structure, and in the requirements of management. Current research is focusing on gathering information on the effectiveness of both adaptation cycles in the scheduling support systems.
