Abstract

Since the last decade, both Logistics and Decision Support Systems are main points of interest in business environment. A Decision Support System is developed for strategic planning on logistic networks. In this paper, this Decision Support System is applied on the design of a logistic network for a manufacturer of copiers and faxes. From this case-description, suggestions are made for advanced functionalities of Decision Support Systems. From the point of view of logistics, connections between Decision Support Systems on strategic, tactical and operational levels are needed. Moreover the assistance of a Decision Support System in splitting complex decision problems in manageable subproblems is very useful. There is also a heavy need for support in developing, administrating and comparing the results of scenario's.
