Cyclotron resonance of quasi-two-dimensional polarons

Abstract

A theorerical survey will be given of the cyclotron resonance of quasi-two-dimensional polarons in heterostructures. One polaron and many-polaron effects will be discussed. The cyclotron resonance absorption spectrum of a quasi-two-dimensional many-polaron system is calculated with inclusion of the full dynamical screening of the electron-phonon interaction. Experimental results of several groups on the cyclotron mass in GaAs/AlxGa1āˆ’ x,As heterostructures are well described. We found that for electron densities larger than 1.4 x 1011 cm āˆ’2 the polaron mass renormalization is smaller than for the corresponding bulk GaAs system.
