Abstract

There are more and more work places requiring little or very little force developed by human upper limbs but, on the other hand, requiring also the human body to be kept in unchanging positions for many hours which result in workers' fatigue and discomfort. Using computer simulation model of the upper limb one can establish the value of effort connected with a working position or can search for areas in the human arm work space where the effort is minimal. The sum of modules of all torques that must be developed by muscles in joints to balance the limb own weight and load applied to the end effector (hand) has been accepted as measurement of effort of muscle groups.
