Optical model potential and nuclear density distributions

Abstract

Folding model calculations of the optical model potentials of alpha-particles and heavy ions are reviewed, showing the importance of accurate density distributions. The method of calculating the density distributions from single-particle potentials is described, and the contributions of some smaller effects discussed.
