Superluminal motion in quasars and BL Lac objects

Abstract

Apparent superluminal expansion in compact radio sources has provided strong evidence for relativistic motion in these objects. Originally seen only in bright, core-dominated sources, the effect has been found in sources with different morphologies, core strengths, and identifications. The list of superluminals is still dominated by quasars but it now includes several BL Lac objects.
