Abstract

Magnitudes and colors for a sample of distant 3CR radio-galaxies, with redshifts up to z=1.82, show very dramatic evidence for luminosity and color evolution of these objects. Cosmological differences are small compared to the detected evolutionary effects. Elongated shapes and very extended (both in space and velocity) [0 II] emission lines suggest violent merging activity at the early epochs, and possibly mark the beginnings of activity of powerful radio-galaxies.
