Prof. Söding talking at an interdisciplinary summer school on collective phenomena (Bad Honnef, September 1981) made a joke saying that he can see two collective phenomena in high energy physics: The increasing number of people in experimental collaborations and the rapid growth of the number of theoretical papers on certain subjects once in a while.
