Abstract
The DoDl language effort will result in a language being developed for many target machines, some of which will not support resident compilers. Techniques such as those presented in this paper can be perfected to reduce the cost and time involved in developing efficient DoDl compilers for such machines. Thus these compilers should be organized to include target computer independent optimization proceedures.
